John Corabi wants to make a blues record with Mick Mars.

“I told Mick. I said, ‘Dude if you ever want to write, count me in,'” the singer told Robert Cavuoto of Sonic Perspectives. “I’ve been trying to talk him into doing something a little left of where what he did.”

Corabi continued, “Anybody that knows Mick Mars knows that he’s a blues guy. He grew up on Jeff Beck, John Mayall, Leslie West, and Jimmy Page. Like all this cool sh*t. So, I was trying to get him to just, ‘Let’s sit down and write a record of riffs like for example ‘Never In My Life’ by Mountain.'”

“I go, ‘Dude your tone, those kind of riffs and I’ll sing on it and we’ll just do a really heavy blues record,'” John said before sharing how Mars approached his offer. “He seemed like he was into it but who knows. We’ll see. I’m just happy that Mick put his record out. I’m sorry he’s going through all this sh*t with the band.”

Mars and Corabi also worked together on some records several years ago. Fans have been curious about these tracks since 2015 when Mars and Corabi released snippets of two songs, ‘Gimme Blood’ and ‘Shake The Cage.’ The songs didn’t make it to Mars’ solo album.

In an earlier chat on Chris Akin Presents…, the guitarist talked about the possibility of releasing them, saying, “There’s maybe one song if I redid it. It’s ‘Gimme Blood,’ which would be perfect for, like, say, wrestling…”

He added, “But right now, I’m just gonna kind of leave them where they are. And one day, if I decide to [go], like,’Let’s dig this one up and see what we can do with it.’ But right now, I’m on a whole different kind of a way of thinking, I guess.”

In his solo album ‘The Other Side of Mars,’ Mick worked with Jacob Bunton as the vocalist instead of Corabi. Mars previously explained that he wanted Corabi on the album but he was busy with other stuff.
