Why Can’t Sebastian Bach And Skid Row Reunite?

Back in the ’90s, Skid Row was on fire. With Sebastian Bach at the helm, they had hits, sold-out tours, and a die-hard fanbase. But behind the scenes, things weren’t so pretty. Creative differences, personal clashes, and one major misstep led to Bach’s departure in 1996.

The final straw came when the singer went behind his bandmates’ backs and booked Skid Row as an opener for KISS—a move the rest of the group felt was beneath them. Tensions boiled over, and he was out.

Since then, Skid Row has cycled through multiple vocalists, most recently Erik Grönwall. When Grönwall stepped down in 2024, speculation about a Bach reunion reignited. Fans hoped this could finally be the moment Skid Row and their former frontman made amends. But reality? It’s not happening.

Bach Wants It—The Band Doesn’t

Sebastian Bach has made it clear over the years that he’s open to a reunion. In fact, he’s almost desperate for it. In 2019, he extended an open invitation to his former bandmates to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Skid Row’s debut album. Most of them ignored it.

Even in 2024, Bach still hasn’t given up. In an interview with ‘Trunk Nation,’ he claimed a reunion hasn’t happened due to ‘miscommunication’ and hinted that all it would take is one perfect email to set things right. He also expressed frustration that other bands, like Metallica and Aerosmith, have had therapists help mediate their internal issues—so why not Skid Row?

But while Bach keeps the door open, the rest of the band has already moved on.

Skid Row Has No Interest In A Reunion

Rachel Bolan, Scotti Hill, and Dave Sabo have all been firm on this: there will be no reunion with Sebastian Bach.

Bolan made it clear that the band has moved forward without him, and they don’t feel the need to look back. When asked about the possibility, he stated, “We moved on so long ago. Now it’s just like, I really think that our fans that wanted to move with us have moved with us.”

Hill and Sabo have also repeatedly shut down rumors. Even former drummer Rob Affuso, who was once on board for a reunion, admitted that some of the guys just “really don’t want it to be.” It’s their choice, and they’re sticking to it.

Bach Blames ‘Business’ Issues

Bach believes the main reason for the rejection isn’t personal but financial. According to him, “We haven’t been in the same room since 1996. That’s a fact… If we can figure out the business side of it, then there’s no reason why not to.” In other words, he thinks money and contracts are the biggest obstacles.

Right now, Skid Row is still searching for a new singer after Grönwall’s departure. Instead of revisiting the past, they’re looking ahead. As Scotti Hill put it, “We’re looking at some people. We’ve got a nice list.” Bach isn’t on it.
