Brian ‘Head’ Welch Thanks Gojira For Helping Korn Sell Out Shows

In a new interview, Korn guitarist Brian Head Welch talked about selling out shows and thanked Gojira for making it possible.

“A lot changed with Korn. We are selling so many tickets right now it’s crazy,” he revealed. “Like we’re averaging 15/20.000 in the States this summer. And thank you Gojira. No, but like everything we’re doing there’s a lot of sellouts in Europe. We’re talking about some big festivals to headline next year. There’s just how you go through peaks and valleys. We’re at a peak, and that’s been really fun.”

“Our management has been incredible, they love us and they love our music and they were there in L.A. They manage System Of A Down. They only had System in the beginning, and they watched Korn go like that and System was small. So they have a passion for us,” Welch added.

Gojira has been rising to fame after their performance at the Olympics. Even after the now-viral performance, the band doesn’t mind that they are opening for Korn.

“It’s great. We are happy people,” the singer Joe Duplantier said of touring with Korn in a different interview. “Of course, we like to headline but we love to take on tours with friends with the bands that inspired us in the first place like Korn for example. We come from death metal, don’t get me wrong, but Korn was somewhere in the picture at some point. We were listening closely while they were being very inventive and original. When the first album came out [I was like,] ‘Whaaat? What is this?'”

“We opened for bands so many times and we’re entering this era now where we’re starting to headline a little more, we have a strong density, we have more followers. People want us to headline after the full experience. But we’re doing our best and Korn is giving us enough space and time to do our thing,” Duplantier added.

Korn’s tour along with Gojira and Spiritbox started just a few days ago on September 12 at Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa. The three bands will travel across the country before ending in St. Paul, MN at Xcel Energy Center on October 27.
