The Darkness frontman recently did an episode on his ‘Justin Hawkins Rides Again’ YouTube show about Rancid’s latest music video ‘Live Forever’ from their tenth studio album ‘Tomorrow Never Comes.’
Here’s what Justin had to say about the revamped band members:
“The great thing about Rancid is that sometimes you see like a punk or rock band that’s been around for years and then it just looks like dad’s having a good time. There’s nothing wrong with that, obviously. But that’s not what this looks like. This still looks vital.”
Justin also shared that he would like to choose his words carefully when talking about the band simply because of their ‘scary’ appearances. He added:
“I think maybe because they had so many tattoos done, and they all look really scary. It’s probably why I’m saying such nice things. I don’t want to get beaten up by Rancid. That would be a nightmare.”
Besides the latest music video for ‘Live Forever,’ their tenth studio album ‘Tomorrow Never Comes,’ their first since 2017’s ‘Trouble Maker’ was released this past summer. The album has been well liked within the punk rock scene. For instance Punk News praised the band’s latest record and wrote:
“Rancid makes a radical left turn from the norm, pushing far past the boundaries, not just of punk, but of the traditional rules of music itself, creating the most original sound to come out of any musical artist since Beethoven.”
