Sharon Osbourne Reveals Her Death Pact With Ozzy Osbourne

In a recent episode of their revived podcast, Sharon Osbourne opened up about a topic that has been discussed in whispers for years — the assisted suicide pact she shares with her husband, Ozzy Osbourne.

The roots of this agreement trace back to 2007 when Sharon first mentioned a mutual understanding with Ozzy in her memoir. This understanding was for them to approach the Swiss assisted dying organization Dignitas if either were to suffer from dementia.

Sharon was recently questioned about the relevance of this pact by her son, Jack. Touching upon the challenges of both mental and physical suffering, she responded:

“Do you think that we’re gonna suffer? Yes, we all are [suffering], but I don’t want it to actually hurt as well. Mental suffering is enough pain without physical. So if you’ve got mental and physical, see ya.”

When her daughter asked if they would survive, Sharon revealed she stood firm in her decision:

“Yeah, what if you survived and you can’t wipe your own *ss? You’re pissing everywhere, shitting, can’t eat.”

The decision was influenced by the experience of Sharon’s father, Don Arden, who passed away in July 2007 at 81, following his battle with Alzheimer’s. Sharon was vocal about her and Ozzy’s belief in euthanasia and their desire to avoid putting their children, Kelly, Jack, and Aimeé, through the experience of watching a loved one deteriorate:

“There’s no way I could go through what [my father] did or put my kids through that. My father deteriorated at such a rapid speed he became a shell of himself. Some say the disease is hereditary, so at the first sign, I want to be put out of my misery.”

After a five-year hiatus, the family returned with ‘The Osbournes’ podcast on September 12, 2023. With 20 episodes available in both video and audio formats, the podcast is recorded at their home. Alongside family-wide discussions, Ozzy also has individual episodes where he converses with musician Billy Morrison on a range of topics.

In addition to the podcast’s return, there is a buzz about a potential documentary-style show focusing on Ozzy and Sharon’s return to England. Previous discussions in 2015 by Kelly Osbourne hinted at a possible revival of ‘The Osbournes,’ and it was announced in 2022 that the show would be making a comeback, featuring the family in the UK.

Ozzy had to cancel the European leg of his ‘No More Tours II’ in January 2023. Following an accident in 2019 that resulted in spinal damage, Ozzy decided to retire from large-scale touring. However, fans can still look forward to smaller-scale live performances as his health permits.

Moreover, in a recent update from September 2023, Ozzy revealed plans for a new album set for a 2024 release. This announcement followed his successful spinal surgery earlier that month.
